Franchise

Fresh. Local. A kitchen of your own.

As a Delish Delivered franchise owner, you deliver locally prepared, fully cooked meals to people who would rather spend the evening on something other than cooking. The meals are ready after about three minutes in the microwave.

The first territories are in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Other locations can be discussed with the right candidate.

Talk with the team

From customers

The reason the route exists.

“I’ve never enjoyed cooking or grocery shopping, so being single and working constantly has left me with limited and poor food choices. I feel really good about getting a well-balanced meal.”

Nancy, New Berlin

“Your meals have been great for my dad. My mom, his wife of 60 years, recently passed away, and your meals are a lifesaver for him.”

Ryan, Mequon

“I love this service. It has made my life manageable again. Fresh, home-cooked meals that taste amazing at my door, so I can focus on the kids when I get home from work instead of cooking. Thank you for giving me back time for the important things.”

Lizzie, Shorewood

Ownership

What it can mean for you.

Building a business with Delish Delivered is for community-minded people who understand the value of more time for the things that matter.

Be your own boss.

Go into business for yourself, but not by yourself.

Keep a flexible, part-time schedule.

Make a difference in your community.

Build something for yourself and the people you care about.

Be your own best customer. Why cook?

How it started

There had to be a better way.

Kathy Burghardt, founder and CEO, was figuring out dinner for her daughters after work and evening activities, and picking up a restaurant meal again. She wanted fresh food on the table and time that was not spent in the kitchen.

She put years of professional development and franchise experience into a company that solved that problem for her community and for herself. The franchise program is the same idea, for people who want to do it where they live.

Kathy Burghardt, founder and CEO of Delish Delivered

Who the meals are for.

Prepaid, on a regular schedule, for people who want dinner handled:

  • Busy households
  • New parents
  • Seniors and people who are homebound
  • Households in a hard stretch: a death, a divorce, an injury
  • Anyone who wants a good meal and the evening back

What is different here.

  • Meals are developed by a chef and cooked locally. They are not shipped in from somewhere else.
  • They heat and eat in about three minutes. This is not a box of ingredients to assemble, and there are no pots to scrub.
  • Customers can order à la carte, set Autopilot, or subscribe and save.
  • The website and the business software handle orders, so the week is not a pile of messages.
  • Customers prepay. The business is built on recurring revenue, without collections.

The week

A short loop, on purpose.

01

Customers order

They choose meals on the site any time before the weekly deadline. A week at a time, several weeks at once, or Autopilot when they would rather not choose.

02

Your team cooks and delivers

Meals are prepared and delivered Monday through Wednesday.

03

The platform runs the week

Ordering, recurring charges, packing, routes, a simple CRM, and reporting live in the Delish Delivered software.

The kitchen

Home office, plus 1,100 to 1,400 square feet.

The business side can run from a home office. The cooking needs kitchen space. The model is meant to flex with the community.

Shared space

A church kitchen or a caterer’s kitchen.

A leased restaurant

Vacant restaurant space, rented.

Your own build-out

A kitchen you build, with the specified equipment.

Why open one

  • An established brand people already trust.
  • Franchise support while you build.
  • A scalable, home-based business, with a shared, leased, or built-out kitchen.
  • No cash. Orders are paid online.
  • Run it from anywhere on the Delish Delivered system.
  • À la carte, subscriptions, and a gift program.

Prepared-food delivery is a $3.4 billion U.S. market, growing about 17% a year. Online ordering is growing 300% faster than dining out. Eighty percent of Americans still do not know what is for dinner by 4 pm. The category grew through the pandemic, and people kept eating at home.

The investment

Initial franchise fee$37,500
Royalties6% of gross revenues
Estimated initial investment$81,858 to lease shared space, up to $323,606 to build out a commercial kitchen
Local marketing$1,500 a month or 2% of sales, plus $7,500 to promote the opening
Technology feeUp to $250 a month. Currently $100.
System marketing fundUp to 2% of sales. Currently 1.5%.

Food service experience is not required. Management and people skills are. It is also a fit as an add-on for a caterer or a food business that is already running.

Support

Training, a manual, and a phone that gets answered.

Before you open

You, your designated manager, and your kitchen manager come to Mequon for two days in the classroom and three days on the job. The team also helps you find the kitchen and get ready to launch.

At the launch

Two days on site with you, within 60 days of opening. After that, phone and email stay open.

While you run it

A confidential operations manual, branding guidelines, sample marketing, and help planning the local campaign so the community knows the kitchen is open.

The software

  • Ordering built for the weekly deadline
  • Automated recurring charges for subscribers
  • A packing system aimed at speed and accuracy
  • Mapping and delivery routes
  • A simplified CRM
  • Reporting and data, without a separate stack of spreadsheets
